I am in the Army and i had the desert tan variant of this boot. They lasted with me all the way through Iraq, and they are quite popular with most of military. They are and were extremely comfortable, once you got them on. I never had a problem with the water proofing. Yes it does rain in Iraq. The only major complaint that I have at least with the military version was the lack of speed laces. They came with foam core laces that would snag and the metal boot loops would sometime move as well. This pair seems to have fixed that by encorperating plastic loops that dont move.

| THANK YOU FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO GIVE MY OPINION. I HAVE OWNED 2 PAIR OF DANNER PRONGHORN UNINSULATED BOOTS. THEY ARE VERY COMFORTABLE, AND I AM PICKY ABOUT COMFORT. I GROUSE HUNT IN EASTERN KENTUCKY AND WISCONSIN.
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE, THE REASON I HAVE OWNED 2 PAIR IS THAT THE FIRST PAIR STARTED LEAKING WITHIN THE FIRST 3 MONTHS OF LIGHT DUTY, PRIOR TO GROUSE SEASON.
I CONTACTED DANNER, SENT THE BOOTS TO THEM AND RECEIVED ANOTHER PAIR, PROMPTLY.
THE SECOND PAIR, NEVER MADE IT THROUGH THE SEASON, BEFORE STARTING TO SEEP WATER. I PUT THEM UP TIL THE NEXT SEASON AND WORE THEM ON MY HUNT IN WI., THE FOLLOWING SEASON. THEY LEAKED BADLY. MY FEET WERE SOAKED DURING THE FIRST SHORT HUNTING ROUND.
I HAVE WORN DANNERS FOR YEARS, BECAUSE OF THE COMFORT AND DURABILITY. I LOVE THE COMFORT AND FIT OF THESE BOOTS, BUT I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WATERPROOF CAPABILITIES.
I PLAN ON WEARING THEM FOR YARD WORK. THAT'S ALL THEY ARE GOOD FOR, TO ME.

These boots are great, Ive bought 3 pairs and they are like tennis shoes in the field for comfort, I always get them insolated. I cover alot of ground quickly and spot and stock (on the move) from 330am till ? 8-9 at nite. The down falls is that they do wear out quick if used in rocky areas.

I have owned Rockies, Irish Setters and then these Pronghorns...I LOVE 'em...They have lasted 5 years and look like they have several more seasons left in them. Very comfortable and have never leaked even standing in the creek over the top of my foot. I am sold and will definitely recommend them. I purchased the 1200 gram and have never had cold feet hunting the snow covered mountains of Idaho chasing elk or the frigid Nevada desert waiting for honkers to come in. I will be purchasing another uninsulated pair for early season antelope. Keep in mind they are leather and you should buy a half size smaller to allow for stretching! I have read where some have had problems with leaking their first time out...well I sold my brother on buying a pair and he did have the same problem, returned them and problem solved! Honestly I am very particular when it comes to comfort and these boots have exceeded my expectations. You will like them as soon as you wrap them around your foot and that comfort stays with ya years later!

I bought these (non-insulated version) last summer so I could have time to break them in before the archery elk season started. I was very impressed with how quickly they got comfortable and how well they fit and performed in the field. I even used them during 2nd rifle season (Oct 17-25) and with a pair of wool socks and liners my feet stayed nice and warm and dry, even when trudging in calf deep snow and through icy streams. Very good investment in hunting footwear. I can only surmise the others who didn't get good service from them simply got boots that were defective. All products, doesn't matter what or whose, have some bad ones that slip by their quality control systems. At least it sounds like Sportsman's Warehouse made things right with these customers. I definitely recommend these.

I had a pair of these boots when they first came out and they lasted 3 days and the seams started to break loose. So I tried another pair and the same thing. I am a guide and in the field or blind 110 days a year and would love to find a pair of boots that can withstand a wholoe season for me. Any suggestions?

These Danners are awesome. I spent nearly 12 years in the military and tried a lot of boots and believe me, they test their stuff. These boots are lighter, hold up better and have vertually no break in period. They are more comfortable than most high dollar running shoes. I hunt Iowa and couple states out west where the terrain is tough and the weather even tougher. These are the only boots I wear. They may cost a little more but you get what you pay for. Keep them clean and treated and they will last. Second to none. You can trhese these with no insulation, 400 grams of thinsulate or 1000.
